Traitors S4 : "A Queen Never Comes Off Her Throne" Concept and Costume Design

Role: Stylist and Costume Designer

This slideshow captures the full creative process behind transforming Alan’s look into a completely hand-painted, custom piece from initial mood boards through final imagery and detailed close-ups of the finished work.

For Episode 8, the goal was to create a truly wearable work of art, something that would feel at home within the episode’s eerie “art dungeon” setting while still standing out as a statement piece.

Multiple mood boards were developed to shape the direction, with careful coordination to the Camper Lab shoe colors to ensure a cohesive overall look. The final design featured bold, expressive paint strokes layered over a floral suit.

To achieve the right balance for the environment, I hand-mixed custom colors, continuously refining tones to blend deep, saturated hues with softer, washed pastels. The paint was applied in heavy layers to create depth and dimension, using a technique similar to piping icing which allowed for thick, petal-like forms to give the surface a sculptural quality.

This approach brought the jacket to life, resulting in a piece that is both visually striking and tactile, blurring the line between fashion and art, and fully aligned with the episode’s creative vision.
