Traitors S4 : "A Queen Never Comes Off Her Throne" Concept and Costume Design
Role: Stylist and Costume Designer
This slideshow documents the process of creating a fully hand-painted, custom look for Alan, from initial mood boards to final images and close-ups of the intricate details. For Episode 8, Sam and I wanted to create a wearable piece of art that would make an impact within the episode’s spooky “art dungeon” setting.
I developed multiple mood boards to guide the design and coordinated with shoe colors from Camper Lab to ensure the look felt cohesive. The final design, my favorite, featured bold, thick paint strokes over a floral suit.
To achieve the perfect balance for the setting, I hand-mixed custom colors, constantly adjusting tones to blend deep, rich hues with light, washed pastels. I layered the paint heavily to give the petals dimension, using a technique similar to piping icing, placing the thick petal details through a bag to make them pop off the fabric. This approach brought the jacket to life, creating a visually striking and tactile piece that felt both wearable and true to the episode’s artistic vision.
